Will Haunting past DQ me from NYPD?

Hello all Maybee you can help me out. This is the first time im writing here although i read messages constantly. Always great info here.
Anyway my problem is im taking the NYPD test in March '05 and im hoping all will go well because i ace all my practice tests so far. My problem is when i get interviewed I'll have to explian what happened when i was 19. I got charged with criminal possesion of a weapon, and reckless endangerment. The CPW was dropped and the reckless endangerment was reduced to criminal mischief which was only a 200 dollar fine. What had happened was i shot off a bb gun near somewones house at night they saw it and when Police got the call they pulled me over and they found metal knuckles in my car. Today almost 10 years later im wondering what the hell possesed me to do such a stupid thing but i have a feeling this will haunt me now. It was somthing i usually would never do even then so i dont know what to say.So now im 28 and have never been in trouble before or after that situation.Ive Started two successful businesses from scratch and Employ over 100 people. Im responsible and i contribute and volunteer as much as i can to the village i live in. But im not sure if this stupid action of mine when i was a kid will get me DQ or not. Im very serious about all my work as well as this i even enrolled back in school to get the last few credits i needed for my qualifications but i just dont know if its all for nothing. I called up 212-recruit and spoke with somewone and after i told my story they said it was a long time ago and not to worry but i want to know what you guys think. its very important to me. I do not see why not I know some one that is in the Academy right now.. and a month ago there was a warrant issued for his arrest. They did nothing to him.
