I am not normaly an impatient person

But all the suspense is killing me...

I had AND believed I passed my oral board last week Tuesday. Next they call you with your conditional offer, pending drug test, physical, a trip to see the Psychologist, and a Lie Detector test. I was hoping to hear by this week but it is almost here and gone. Guess I will just wait some more

I would have thought with the academy starting in February they would have had to work a little faster with the holidays but what the hell do I know.

I and every other former and present applicant on this forum know how bad the waiting game stinks... but ultimately LE is a career field where patience is a must. You have to have patience with the crazy lady who called you out to her house to arrest her physically abusive husband, who isn't there nor has he been for the entire night because he's sleeping with his girlfriend  . I know you're in a position where waiting is an endeavor, but look at it this way. It will help to instill some patience in you that is needed for your position. Maybe that's not the direct design of the application process, but its a way to look at the positive and grow positively as a candidate. Keep up the hard work and persevere.

Just a tip. Don't start freaking out if you don't hear from them as soon as you thought you would. From personal experience, it always takes longer than you thought it would and sometimes longer than they said it would. NO NEWS is GOOD NEWS. Just keep yourself busy & the wait will be over before you know it.

Definitely, it is extreme amount of waiting. I have been applying for almost a year now, and probably still won't know now until February whether or not I will even get on the Auxilliary force. The waiting will tend to make you more serious about the whole process though IMO.

So hang in there. Good things come to those who wait. ;)

The agency said it takes anywhere from 6 months to a year where I applied.- well it's been a year and it's gonna go past a year because I'm still waiting to hear from BI. They are not keeping to my schedule-jk. Anyway as everyone above said- No news is good news! generally speaking if they want to cut you lose they get rid of those individuals quickly. Be patient, it will come. Alot of people are on holiday and take time off around this year.

I am definitely not a patient person, the past 8 months have been killers for me. I am trying to take it one day at a time. I have an all day interview(BI said Id be there from 8-5, why does it take all day ?) on January 20th. These next 30 days are going to feel like molasses but I tell myself everyday, "Take it one day at a time and its going to happen." Im right there with ya on the waiting game thing though; man is it tough.

Man, the Holidays slow everything down!! Don't get me started on the waiting, I just kept running three times a week and grinning the best I could. One thing I've learned from this process of getting hired is, "the way things are is the way things are" and if I'm what they are looking for, they will call, less any Holiday or other unforeseen consequence, slows them down. If they want you, they'll probably start expediting you into the rest of the process after all the down time ends.

Hang in there, let's not throw the towell in just yet. Keep us informed.

Maybe two weeks, maybe three, maybe more or less. You should get something in writing stating you are no longer in consideration, but it is not manditory that you have it received in two weeks (depends on how busy the department and hiring division are). If it has been two weeks with no word, and patience is getting the best of you, call the hiring division and politely inquire about your status.

    Chris,

Sounds like you are talking about the NYPD process. Ask your question in either of the NYPD threads and I'm sure Joey will answer it for you. Good Luck.
