Just got my final offer today for employent as a Police Officer. I start on the 27th of this month. I'm just about literally floating on air. It's been a long, nerve-wracking process & it sometimes seemed like it would never end but it was so worth it. I've been checking out RP daily for a little while now & have been more of a silent observer but I thought I'd pass on my good news to everybody just the same. I'll be getting verified soon (yah!) and I think I'll feel like I have something useful to contribute then. Thanks to everybody for the interesting posts. It's a great site.

No, I'll be working for a smaller dept in the surrounding Houston area. I didn't have any interest in working for HPD. Around here, if you don't work for HPD then you have to put yourself through an academy, which is what I did, and then apply at the departments of your choosing. The agency I just got hired at was my first choice.

I admire fender's drive, tenacity, & desire. You've got to want it very badly to be willing to start from scratch for a second go-around. By the time I made it all the way through the process and was just waiting for the final offer, my brain was pretty much fried. Props to you fender.
