    Question Questions on my background

Ok, I've been reading around on this forum about some of the stuff asked on a B/I. and im just wondering if once I get out of the academy at my community college, will there be a problem with any of this when I apply to a department. I live in Florida if that matters any.

First off, I have a very clean background. im 19, and have 30 college credits (pretty decent grades). Spent four years in a high school Marine Corps JROTC program, doing volunteer work with them as well. I've held two jobs so far, still working for both of them. Employed at one for 2 years and a few months, and the other for 3.5 years.

The only thing that might show up on a police record would be a single speeding ticket where the "official" speed was 64 in a 55. Other than that nothing else will come up on a record. The only other glaring thing (only reason why I ask, is that someone had a question on a B/I 'have you EVER operated a vehicle while intoxicated or impaired?' or something along those lines.) was a single event when I was 17. I had a couple sips (yes, just that, only sips) of alchohol, and I drove home about 3 hours later. this has been the only time I have ever drank.) But, I wasnt ever pulled over that night, so it wouldnt be on a police record. It was stupid for doing that and being 17, but I honestly havent touched alchohol since then. So, im wondering if I should even report that incident whenever I do a B/I to be hired on a department? and if I do, will it pose a problem for me?

Other than that, my background is clean. And if anyone can tell me if from the looks of that if I would make a good canidate or not for a department, that would be great as well. Thanks

You will be just fine. Nearly everyone has gotten some type of ticket, you just have to maintain what you have now and keep it clean.

Honesty is the best policy always. If the situation arises that you have to disclose about the drinking and driving, just tell. You have not done anything I have not done, and probably less. Good luck.

The alcohol thing shouldn't be too big of a deal.

Come forward and present it to your BI just as you did here.

It was stupid for doing that
Say exactly that and explain the circumstance. Whatever you do, don't hide it. It'll end up coming up on your poly and then you'll be questioned on why you didn't disclose it.

I'm not a BI, but I couldn't imagine that presenting a problem with you getting hired. Again, don't try and hide it.

If that's all you have in your background besides a speeding ticket, you're looking to be in good shape. Keep it that way and you should be fine.
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.

Ok, great, thanks. I thought the drinking might be a problem considering I was 17 at the time. But, nice to know it shouldnt. If any B/I out there that would know for sure on this, it would be very much appreciated.

It is my personal opinion that in order to be considered for a law enforcement position an applicant would have to have engaged in one if not all of the following:

    1. Engaged in at least one but no more than two fistfights that you didn't start.

    2. Have consumed alcohol to the point of inebriation at least once in your lifetime.

    3. Have engaged in intercourse with someone you probably shouldn't have in a place you probably shouldn't have. (Refer to #3)

Preference should be given to applicants who have completed above 3 items prior to graduation from high school. ;)

LOL, I should be ok then, im covered except for number two. Number 3 resulted in a cop finding us right afterwards, but he knew what was up. All he done was question me outside the vehicle, and then ask her a few questions. I actually saw him trying very hard not to laugh his a$$ off at me, saw him smirk quite a few times. gave me a pretty good scare. *sigh* 17, young and stupid. :p

And if they haven't we'll fix any deficiencies after your probation period.
