Admitting to DUI, was that bad?

I am in the process of testing for a Police Department. I have passed the written, I got a 100 on my interview, and have a BA in Criminal Justice. However, I admitted to driving whilst intoxicated in a background questionnaire, but I do not have a DUI. Something stupid I did years ago, but did not want to lie about it. They have known of my answers and have continued to let me test. Will they drop me later on?

The question on my pre-pysch was worded "Have you EVER driven while under the influence of intoxicants" and I answered yes. I consider having one alcoholic drink and driving being under the influence. The B/I sent me a letter a week and a half ago wanting me to explain when and in detail about this. Well it was 1994 when I first started drinking, I would have a few after work then drive home but I was never falling down drunk or stupid about it. I just told the truth but I also said, that was then and now if I have even one drink I don't drive, I have a designated driver. You should be fine, all of us have done it but from what I've been told it's a very touchy subject to be handled with care. I don't know how I've done yet but I will find out anyday. Good luck and the best policy is always: Be honest, truthful.

Doubtful, I think it's much less likely they would drop you because of that than if you hadn't told them about it and it came up later on a poly.

If you don't answer yes to some of the criminal act questions, they will know you are lying. Not a single one of us is perfect and we have all made mistakes.

Think of it like this, if you are under 21 and have a BAC of .02 (about 1 beer) you could be deemed impaired.

Thanks all and good luck Tami. I was just really worried about being dropped for something that's not a true judgment of my character.
