    Random thought regarding background packet

As of this moment, I have three applications in the system. Two of them asked for nothing more than criminal convictions and one of them asked if I had commited any crimes, detected or otherwise.

I have no criminal record, only traffic incidents (all of which were well documented above and beyond what one would find on the DMV record, as would be expected), however, one incident just came to mind,

At 16 I was suspended from high school in connection with weapon transaction (non-firearm). I did not think of this when filling out my applications, but in hindsight this could/would count as an illegal action.

Is is necessary for me to start calling up personnel departments to bring this up, or simply wait to be contacted by a BI? (From what I understand I will be given an appointment to sit down and talk to someone, correct?) As of this moment, two of my applications have not been looked at yet and one department has asked me to take a written.

    Best regards, Jeff

Me personally, I would wait till I made contact with my BI, and then inform him/her of the situation.
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.

That's what I planned on doing, but wanted to make sure that was the status quo. Assuming I notify my BI, will I not be "dinged" for leaving this off the written application? *embarrased*

    Thanks! Jeff

If you call them and tell them now, they may not even look over your application. However, if you wait until your appointment to bring it up, then they will more than likely give you more consideration since you are already there. Plus, it will be easier to explain to the BI in person.

I take it this is for the NYPD? well...you don't have to answer. But if I were you I would disclose it to my BI. Sometimes they tend to be a little more understanding when you're in front of them. However, you should of disclosed this info. Not all leo's are perfect, but as long as you can prove to them honesty and that you have changed you should be fine. Don't stress it to much, but remember to disclose this info, this way it doesn't come back to bite you in the ***.

Realize they will eventually get ahold of your school records. They are extremely backed up in the APD, so even if you get into the academy without disclosing it, 3 months out of the Academy you may get a call telling you your GO15'd. Wrong answer there (any answer as to why you didnt disclose it would be wrong) and your fired. Say goodbye to any civil service job in NY.

Basically, tell your investigator ASAP before they find out themselves!!

Its for an auxiliary position with a local sherrif's office, nowhere near as complex as NYPD ;) I'm not worried about being DQ'd or not getting an interview, etc. just what the proper ettiquette is for disclosing at this point.

    Thanks, Jeff

Have you had your poly yet? I was given a chance to disclose anything I had forgotten about on the application before I took the poly. I understand it's fairly common to remember things after the initial paperwork. It wasn't a big deal like I thought would be. After the poly all bets are off. If there is anything found after that it's not a good thing.

My understanding was that any admission to the interrogator, before or after being "hooked up," would be a DQ and that they tell you you can admit to things just to see if you'll contradict your own written statements?
