Ok another question but this one is not related to the original psychological stuff. Is the recruitment website accurate where it says that military service members that were awarded expeditionary medals can retire after 17 years? A friend of my dad that just retired from motorcycle 1 a couple of years ago was able to buy back his military time but that was after thirty something years as an officer. Before reading that on the website, I was under the impression that time can be bought back but you still have to do twenty. I would trust the website but I have noticed other inaccuracies from it posted on this website.

With NYPD, all military folks can get credit for some of their time served, but you have to pay for it. There are rules as to what time of your service applies and what does not. But you get it on the back end. Meaning if you did 4 years in the military, you may be eligible for 3 years of "buy-back." That measn 3 yeasr of it are eligible and you go to Headquarters and do some paperwork. They then tell you what each year costs. I have no idea the actual cost. I have heard rumors from $3500 a year up to $8000 a year. You pay them the $ and get teh yeasr at the end. That means if you have 3 years on...you don't do it till you have 17 years, in this case.
