You guys/gals need to get off your horse and listen to Joey. He is already on the force with much experience. For Christ's sake, no wonder so many of you get DQ'ed. Stop and listen to Joey!!!! Good God, do I need to come in here and kick some butt??? :D

I agree if you have the money and time....go for it. But they drag out the appeal process....usually much longer than the year waiting period. And they few guys and gals who do it, are not cheap! Most would be better re-taking it since they don't have the $. Thats why I said what I did. But you did get screwed...especially at 9 months and not getting a full second evaluation.

Why did they fail you originally?

the psych saw a "lack of maturity" in me , or at least this is what my BI told me , and he wasnt even 100% sure. I never really got a straight answer. About suing , yea a lot of people told me too, but my chances are crap with that. Ive decided to just move on to different dept's and hope that the DQ from NYPD doesnt hurt me

    Pleassssseeeeee! :D
After I left St. Louis Dept of Public Safety, I applied to a department, and was offered a job. I went through the whole process including the psych (which was the MMPI...snore). During that time, I was contacted by ANOTHER department I had applied to and offered a job that I turned down since I was going through the process with the one that had already offered. When I took the psych interview, the guy asked about my previous experience. After I gave my background, His demeanor took a change from bad to worse, but I'm thinking the whole time that his name sounds familiar. About a week goes by and I get a call from HR withdrawing the job offer and won't tell me why (in violation of federal law). After a process of elimination, I come to the psych test. I should say at this point that I'm familiar with the MMPI when I was in school through some psych courses that I took. I saw my charted resultes, and they were all within normal range. I look through my notes that I kept from when I was a city gun, and, lo and behold, I come across a guy I had arrested with the same last name as this nipplehead and an address TWO blocks from the Physichologists office! I send a letter to the chief, who promptly asks me to reapply. At this point, I'm still so pissed off that they wouldn't give me a reason, that I didn't reapply. The point is, don't give up, but don't let your emotions cloud your judgement when dealing with idiots.

Can you cite that Federal Law?

The Employee Privacy Act (of 1974?) has the provision.

The NYPD tries to DQ a lot of people in the Psych because they don't have a Poly to weed out 50% of those who apply.

Holy necrophilia, Batman. Some misguided soul revived a 3 year-old thread.
