I recently took another Psych. It was 900 questions. Off the wall stuff all t/f questions, like:

I think I am better than others.
I care what people think of me
    I was followed yesterday
I thought about killing someone/myself last week
    Green is my favorite color.

Don't think during this test...just answer. The same "type" question will be asked about 15 different ways...and misleading the results on the test may get you DQ'd. Eat a good breakfast and bring a sharp pencil. As to the medical it is a thorugh physical exam, eyes, ears, b/p, heart rate, height/weight and an examination of you personal medical history by the Dr. Standard stuff.

I took my psych 2 weeks ago for the process I'm going through.

It's a joke man, I found myself laughing at some of the questions. I'm guessing I passed because I'm in the BI now.

And yes, somebody is following me!!!!!! I am an agent of god, I don't like my mother, I hate flowers, and I especially don't like cats.

    Seriously dude, it's a joke.....you'll see.

I looked at ink blots and was asked what I saw. I can assure you that I didn't see any weapons, murder or mayhem. As I recall, I saw mountains, forests, deer running etc.

Nothing to it, just don't think too hard. I also had to talk to a shrink fot the 2nd half of my psyc. That was rather interesting. Not at all as bad as I had thought it would be.
And your whiney *** crybaby excuse would be....

Written psych isn't hard, it's just very boring and repetitive. If you're taking the MMPI-2, be prepared to answer 900-1500 true/false questions. None of them are hard, they're just looking for inconsistencies by rewording the same 50 questions over and over again.

I'm not sure about other departments, but NYPD makes you draw pictures of a tree, house, and a person. They also make you write about the most traumatic or threatening experience in your life. These additional pieces and background info on your family, employment, education, criminal/motor vehicle history will be asked during the oral psych.

Neither the written or the oral psych were hard, just be honest and you'll make it through fine.

    What do those inconsistancies prove?

From what I've been told it depends on the question. For example:

    Q. Have you ever intentionally told a lie?
    Q. Do you always tell the truth?
    Q. Have you ever not told the whole truth?

Answering those questions differently may show a tendency to lie.

Other questions are more subtle and are meant to expose character issues: Example:

    Q. Were you ever suspended from high-school?
    Q. Were you ever in a fight after grade school?
    Q. Do you ever get angry?
    Q. Were you ever discplined for misbehavior?

There are many examples. But the MMPI-2 is scored on a scale in sections. Your scores must fall within an acceptable range. However, inconsistencies such as saying you never get angry but got into a fight in high-school are red flags. Those issues are usually explored more in-depth during an oral psych.

O.K. Thanks..I can see how that could show deception however, aren't the questions kinda moot? I mean...who doesn't get angry?

Exactly. There are things on the test which they expect the average rational person to admit. Not admitting anything, or admitting something and contradicting yourself on another question is the problem.

I have no way of knowing if this is a true story, or an excuse for getting rejected, or what, but I'll tell it to you just in case. Years ago, maybe 12 years ago someone said that his friend failed the NYPD psych because when they asked him to draw a picture of a house, he drew one with a chimney, and they said he must be a pyromaniac.

To be honest, I doubt that story, but I am not adding any chimneys to any houses I draw, thats for sure. I know I am not a pyro, but I do love the fireplace in my house, and might have drawn one otherwise.

There are valid ways (and I am not sure if the above is one of them) of finding a pyro through tests like the ink blot test (rorshack sp.?). If someone repeatedly sees colors in the ink-blots when there is none, then that is supposedly a sign of pyromania.
