For those of you who took the Physical Agility Test, in actuality, how difficult is it? The running? Is the sled hard to move? The dummy hard to carry? Let me know please so I can start training. Thanks!

[runningman]time to start RUNNING![/runningman]
it really depends on your current state of fitness, but at a minimum i would suggest start working on running/cardio immediately. the obstacle course and 1.5 mile run seem more cardio based than strength based.
in the resource booklet there are academy graduation requirements for situps and bench press - i would start a program that would get me to those goals before the academy starts. that's what i've done, and am running sub-12minute 1.5 miles, benching more than 130% of my bodyweight and able to do tons of situps. i also found some great fences in my neighborhood to practice jumping.
good luck.
agility is so easy excepot for the stairs...once u hit those stairs your legs become logs, but its over with soon enough, the average time for guys is like 1:40...so youll be ok, only 1 girl failed it when i was there
baseball guy, did you do the mile and a half the same day?
nah guy, theres an academy class in, the mile and a half is at a different location, i think she said the bronx, not sure, once u leave the academy call to scedule yer appointment
what are most people wearing for the obstacle course, baseballguy? i read that it's mandatory long pants with belt loops... would i be the only jackass in jeans? i need to know what to pack in my suitcase.
ruthless, good question. The paper I got that gives me my date and time for the agility says you must wear sweatpants, while the guide says to wear pants with beltloops.
You don't need to wear pants with belt loops, but you do need to wear sweatpants (no jeans). You have to wear a bullet-proof vest and they tie a 10 pound weight to your waist. I'm pretty small weight-wise, about 6' and 155 lbs, and I had no problems running or moving my arms. The fence is probably the worst part. I saw plenty of people struggle to get over it, so that's an area I'd start training on (if you're not already in good shape). Watch your landing from the fence too, don't let your knee explode like mine.
Ditto
thanks guys, i confirmed it with someone at the apd today. sweatpants are expected, belt loops not necesary.
