NYPD Out Of State Exam # 3053

I took the 3053 exam in Norfolk Va in sept 2003. Just found out i'm # 169 on the list. I'm in the Navy, i will retire next year with 20 years of service. I talked to the police rep. on the phone and was told i could finish the process and go to the acadamy this July. Of course i will wait and retire next year. does anyone know if this exam # 3053 is part of the exam cycle taken in new York? How do they count the out of state exams, i mean is it a seperate exam all together or are all the exams take at that time in new York and out of state grouped together? Anyone know, thanks.

Thought I'd ask again, does anyone know how the NYPD out of state exams are figured into the overall tally of exams for the NYPD? Has anyone else taken exam # 3053? Is # 169 on the list good for this exam? Thanks for the info if you can help.

I think the only honest answer is - it depends on the test. More than 14,000 people took the last in-state test in February, and obviously if you were #169 on that test you'd be in great shape to start the hiring process.

I'm not sure how many people took test #3053, but if you passed the test and were invited into the other phases of the hiring process (record check, medical, psych, background), that's definitely a good sign.

There have been people in my candidate group at the psych and medical phases of the process from 3-4 different tests, although the bulk were in-state from the most recent test.

I don't have any military experience, but from what I've seen, it can help expedite the hiring process. At the medical, veterans discharged honorably within 2 years of their medical check for the NYPD didn't have to go through some of the tests.

    All the best.
