Remember now...you said, "I want honest opinions please."
The first thing that comes to my mind is your evident tendancy to bail when the going gets rough at other people's expense. The vacuum thing was theft. Don't be upset because you're being told that because it's a fact. You clearly had someone else's property and chose to keep it. You displayed that you had knowledge that you were in posession of property that belonged to a company and it took you a year to return it. Hey, nobody's an angel and you were young and ignorant but your conscious should have told you to return that vacuum asap.
The other two things don't seem to be so bad except that if you couple this vacuum incident with the day you called out sick and then quit, then add an unsteady work history the dept may think you have no ability to stick somewhere and no concern about who pays for your hasty actions.

Get a letter ( if you can) from the vacum cleaner people saying that their property was returned and the whole thing is a closed issue. You may need it to back up your story.
Let me guess, was this Kirby ??
We had something like this happen recently where a new salesman took a new demo unit ( retail at $1,499.00 !! ) and pawned it for $100 . Needless to say , he got arrested.

If there was no police complaint from them about you...then they didn't consider it worth pursuing or didn't care. This does not mean it was OK. Make SURE from now on you divulge this to any new places you apply and also indicate that ultimately , the property was returned.
Even if you no longer worked for them, you still had a moral if not legal obligation to return the property that they let you BORROW.

You cannot change what you did yesterday, however you can change what you will do today and when tomorrow comes, you will realize that it was possible to change the past afterall.

Ill be honest. It sounds to me like you have an excuse for everything. To me those two stories just dont add up. I think there was more to it and more fault of your own.

Honesty is the key.....If you would have told the truth about the vacuum, you may have gone further.
As far as your work history, you changing jobs has nothing to do with school alone, it does lead one to believe you have a lack of maturity. Not willing to stick in through the rough times would highly concern me. Sorry, but 6 mos. is anything but a stable work history. If you quit so easy, what kind of a risk am I taking by picking you over someone else who has a stable work history??
