Will having a POST 832pc certificate help me in the hiring process?

I am in the Hiring process with Berkeley PD. I am starting to get really worried after hearing about a guy on this board getting a letter saying they will not be doing a back ground when he has a masters in Criminal Justice. I don’t even graduate until May and with a degree in Political Science.

But one thing I do have that I got is an 832 pc (arrest control and Firearms Certificate) from the Sacramento County Sheriffs Department. The class just finished up last month and I mailed a copy of the certificate in with my PHQ. Will having this help me or does that kind of stuff not really matter. A cop recommended me taking the class cause he said it would show that police work is something I really want to do. Especially since my major has nothing to do with it.

    What’s yours guy’s opinion?

Dont be worried man, I think the reason I got the letter is because a have a couple of marks on my background. I am just confusted why on the 1st application they ony asked if you were charged with any felonies? If there is automatic disqualifier it should be on the orginal application, so i dont waste my time and they do not waste their time. But good luck to you I would like to know how you do.

A murderer could have a masters in CJ, does that person deserve a job?
