 Hello,
I have posted here stating that I took and scored very well on the Sheriff's Office test in my county. The testing process is Civil Service so I am assuming that the rest of the hiring process is too. I am not sure about background investigations but I am sure that they will pull credit reports. After high school I went to college and got credit cards. Being younger, I was very stupid and accumilated a large amount of debt on those cards. Since then I have contacted the Consumer Credit Counseling Service to get the debt taken care of. Any of you that is familiar with them know that they are not like the companies you see on tv, they are actually an organization funded by the credit card companies and other lenders to help people repay their debt instead of bankruptcy. I am now 27 years old, have an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice (my area only requires HS diploma) and am ready to enter the field. I have spoken to my counselor about possibly getting a letter from her and she said she would be more than happy to help as I have not missed a single payment with them. Could some of you who are part of the interviewing staff or very knowledgable about the process tell me if this will kill my chances of getting hired. My record is very clean. I've never received a ticket except for an inspection sticker and no arrests or drugs. Any response is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
