Spam, Spam, Spam...
it's actually a pretty cool site. call it spam if you will.
At least check it out first. Since the thread is about backgrounds, etc, its prime material.
I don't doubt how cool the site is. I checked it out, and it seemed okay. The fact of the matter is, though, that the poster created a new account (coincidentally named after the site he is advertising) and has made only two posts, and both of them were the exact same ADVERTISEMENT for the site. There was no other information in either post other than a link and an advertisement. The forum rules state:Originally Posted by big cahuna

In addition, while not specifically mentioned in the rules of conduct, cross-posting in multiple categories is considered pretty poor form.
Beavis,
I don't see anything wrong with the post. I'm all for searchable databases that track scum. Considering this is a police forum, of police, for police, for wannabes like myself, I think its a good site.
Does the 'advertiser' need to follow the forum rules? Sure. Do the admins need to enforce the rules? Sure. So since neither happened, what are you going to do?
Thanks for the info on the rules also...but instead of lecturing me, try lecturing the person who posted it, or write one of the admins and nicely ask that the forum rules be enforced.

Not trying to lecture you at all, cahuna. I expressed an opinion, you disagreed with me, so I posted information backing up my position. Chill out, man... :DOriginally Posted by big cahuna
all it does is save you 10 minutes by centralizing links to other sites.

wouldn't it be more appropriate for iinvestigate.com to contact the moderator first, and perhaps make a donation?
he's making money for free hits on his website, maybe he should throw some money this way. that's how it's done in other forums i frequent.
TAR AND FEATHER!
good suggestion ruthless, but I'm not sure how this forum can prevent unauthorized posts - anyone can sign up, and anyone can post.
People that post randomly and without permission probably don't care if they get banned...I doubt they will seek up front permission.
Unless they ban all posts that have web links, the only mechanism I know of is to ban and/or remove posts that are advertisements.
