    email vs phone call

Does anyone have any opinions on wheather it is more appropriate to contact your recruiter via email or telephone? I am bit of an email person but I wonder if that comes across less personal when asking questions to your recruiter? Any opinions, experiences, or stories?

I would say that it depends upon what you are writing about. A simple question to double check a fact? Then an email would be fine. A time-sensitive callback: definitely pick up the phone. Use your judgement. If this were any other business communication, what would be appropriate . . .

Normally its just to check in on my application status. I never email in response to something time sensitive.

Then IMHO it's fine. That is what email is for. They probably prefer you send them an email for that, but then again, that is how I would feel, and I am not a cop or a recruiter. Just a wannabe. Good luck.

That is how I feel. The reason I asked is because normally my recruiter gets back quickly when I send an email. The last email I sent he did not respond to. I felt like calling but I don't want to be a nuisance if he puposley ignored my email. Maybe I am just being a paranoid LE job seeker. I usually analyze everything I do. I know some of us guys are very comfotable using the computer and some hate it.

I hear ya. I know that on the NYS Trooper site it says that they may not answer your email if the question has been answered on that site already. Maybe that's why he/she has not got back to you, or something like that. OR, maybe they are off for the week. Some departments start with 4 weeks vacay. If you don't hear back then call in a week or two. I bet that if you asked how you did on the test, they would ignore that because you'll hear in the mail and they wont look that up. Good luck.

    md123,
Thanks for the responses. I actually heard back today from my recruiter. He made it sound like they have been pretty backed up. Hopefully I will be on board with some one soon.
