Is the production of napalm generally a disqualifier?

I tried my best to recall every crime I'd ever committed around the time I became serious about pursuing a career in law enforcement. A bit of juvenile prank calling came to mind as well as a few instances of taking a dollar from my mother's purse when I was 12. I've never used drugs, my driving record is clean, and I can count with my fingers the number of things I've ever stolen.

I was feeling pretty content with my background until I suddenly remembered a time when I was 17 in which I stumbled upon directions for napalm on the internet and unfortunately decided to make a small quantity of it (about half a pickle jar's worth). I didn't intend on doing anything malevolent with the napalm, in fact I had no intentions of doing anything with it at all. I think I made it for the sake of making it, and to this day it's still in my bedroom (tips for how to dispose of it are more than welcome)

It was earlier on in this year when I was able to recall this, and at that point I'd given up all hope of becoming a police officer. I'm asking this question here today because a friend of mine feels strongly that I shouldn't give up so easily.

Thanks in advance to anyone who offers advice or answers.
