Have a question for anyone that can help. I am from Tampa, FL. I just started taking classes to recieve an AS degree in Criminal Justice. I also want to attend the Law enforcement academy. I know that some Law enforcement academies give 30 accredited hours if you complete the academy. Suggestions?
I don't want to take the same learning classes that I would for the Law enforcement academy.
This has been covered over and over again so do a search and you'll find a lot of information on the subject.
You don't NEED a CJ degree to get into LE nor will you look better if you have a CJ degree. Get a degree in something you'll enjoy, computers, accounting, basket weaving, etc. and get good grades.

Yet still many people, including you, are dead set on an Associates or Bachelor's in Criminal Justice.
Also, what are the major courses I need to get an AS degree in Criminal Justice?
Only the college you're attending will be able to tell you this. They should have a degree checklist of all the required classes.
I can't answer the other stuff for you as I'm not in Florida.
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.
WHERE I LIVE some colleges offer an associates in CJ with the academy and state certification. 3 semesters are normal classes and the last semester is the Academy. Classes with a CJ major are usually business math, english comp, sociology.
Let me begin by telling you that you do not ATTEND a degree in CJ. You ATTAIN one after ATTENDING the prescribe courses and successfully passing each - generally, two years for an AA and four years for a BA.
It makes not on iota of difference what degree in higher education you attain - short of basket weaving - a degree is a degree. None guarantee you a job and none exempts you from attending a LE academy. Study whatever your mind can best handle. Then, and only then, start to seek out viable employment in the field of your choice: Feds, State, County, City, Township, etc.
With an education and some experience you will be better suited to know where you desire to spend your next thirty years.
Good luck!!
