How to protect my family from mentally sick person released on bail?

Please advise!

I live in an apartment building in Brooklyn. There was this boy, 15 years old, who looks mentally sick. He had troubles in school, once he even tried to steal a gun from a school guard. Also, when he was seeing younger kids - he always tried to grab them on the neck and suffocate a little. Since he looked mentally sick - no one ever called a police to report those "neck grabs".

Few month ago he tried to kill a teenager with a knife. He got arrested but yesterday he got released on bail.

How can I protect my family? We never left our kids alone but now that we know he is really dangerous - I am pretty sure my wife won't be able to protect the kids. Even I won't be able to protect them if he has a knife.

Is there any way to find out conditions of his release? I am pretty sure his mother won't enforce any conditions, so we, neighbors, will have to do it.

What else can i do? Please advise!!!

Probably no way to find out his conditions unless you have contact with his parents and they willingly tell you.

The court system is VERY big on privacy when it comes to juvenile criminal records and proceedings.

I probably can. But he's gonna be back in jail in a few month again, hopefully.
And even if I move I don't know what will you get at the new place - could be even worse.

Could be even better, too. Can't get too much worse if you already have someone mentally ill attacking folks with a knife.
