    Question about hiring!

Thanks in advance for reading my post!

I just had my first poly. It went smooth. I told the examiner I have ever done. After the exam he told me I had a minor reaction on one question. It was have you ever stolen from an employer. He did two charts. The second he said came out fine. The first saw a small reaction. He asked me if I had anything else to tell him I said no. He said sign the poly. Idk why. I think I failed and told the truth. He grilled me on the question that was in question for thirty min in the pre test. Wubbies terrible. I feel goabout being upfront and laying my cards on the line. This was for a small pd. Does this in ur opinion meen I failed the poly?

Does IDK mean "I don't know?"

As long as your satisfied with all your answers as being truthful I really don't know what more you can do or think. I can't imagine why he would have you put IDK on the poly. As far as I know the terminology used by a Polygraph examiner would be inconclusive if there was a doubt. Did you answer "I don't know" to any of his questions about theft?

If I'm reading it correctly (and if I'm not it isn't the first time I've been wrong) the OP was stating the polygraphed told him to sign his chart and he (the OP) did not know why, vice being told by the polygraphed to write "IDK" on his chart.

If you failed the test, you'll know for certain soon. If you told the truth, which happens unfortunately sometimes, count your loses with that agency and move on with applications elsewhere. That's all one can do in those cases.

No I answered just yes and no. He said I did fine and better on the next sheet. So idk what to think about it. After I said that he said okay. Some officers told me that a polygrapher will sometimes lie to you at the end to see if you tell them anything. I was really truthful. Brutually truthful I'm fact.

Guy's I think "IDK" stands for "I'm Dumb Kid" that is too lazy to type out a few words so we can understand what his question is.

I am at the point, I don't care what the question is. He may pass the polygraph but can you imagine reading a police report written like that?

idk is "text speech" where you use fewer letters to get the point across, both in texting and things like Twtitter which only allow so many characters. Same as using "u" for you, "w/" for with, "w/o" for without, "FWIW" for For What It's Worth, "YMMV" for Your Mileage May Vary, and so on...

Nobody is making fun of you.....they were pointing out the obvious: you were lazy and taking a short cut as your posted what most would consider a serious and important issue. Police officers need to be articulate and communicate in a clear manner so everyone can understand. That means both orally and in writing. Street slang and text slang and everything else have no place in our communication. These little things mean a lot. If you are doing something over minor stuff...then we all know you are more likely to do it with big stuff. Thus the laziness to type "IDK" or without the use of sentences here on a important issue for you, means you will likely shortchange a person when serving as a cop. We don't like our co-workers to be lazy or unable to articulate. First impressions are everything and yes…you are an applicant and being judged on EVERYTHING.

Additionally, if you skin is so thin you can take the very slight ribbing you got here, you need to find a new line of work to desire. It is 1000 times worse on the job.
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

    mmy

My skin is not thin. I already worked at q coroners office in one of the highest murder rate cities per capita in the county. This is a message board and not a police report. I was asking a simple question. I was not be rude at all. I though this message board was for individuals to help qualified applicants when we have questions in regards to the hiring process. I appreciate everyones help anyway. Stay safe.
