    Neighbor Harrassment...what to do?

I have a neighbor that has been a real jerk ever since he moved in, he is renting a house next door to the house my fiance and I own. A few months ago, he began throwing glass bottles, cups, etc into our front yard (which is mostly concrete) in order to what I guess was to make our dog step on it (he hates all dogs and has written a note to us in the past vaguely threatening him). We confronted him about, when he then proceeded to call about 10 of his hood rat friends over to his house to intimidate my fiance. We also noticed small dings on his truck and pebbles all over our driveway where he was throwing them at our truck. Unfortunately we never had any evidence against him and he suddenly stopped so we just moved on with our lives. Now it started again last night and I am getting scared. He has been staring us and friends of ours down from his front porch whenever we go outside and last night he threw anoher couple of glasses. We called the police, because we want it documented what is happening. Nothing has happened since but I am becoming scared because this harrasment is unprovoked and we can get no answers from him as to why it is happening. I am afraid he is going to take his attacks on us further, but we can get no evidence that he is doing it! What can we do to protect ourselves?

My best suggestion is to put up a wireless video system on your house to record his activity. There are several decent priced systems if you search the interent. That way you can turn it over to your local police and there is no "he said, she said" type of stuff going on.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

Talking to his landlord also may be beneficial. An experienced landlord knows that someone who does not respect the neighbors and causes problems in the neighborhood usually also does not respect the property itself. In addition to that, there have been various rulings in different states that a landlord can be held liable (civilly) for the illegal or injurious actions of a tenant if they know about the behavior and attempt to do nothing to stop it. This isn't a blanket rule so it would be best to research your state's laws before bringing this up to the landlord.
