becoming a cop and court ordered counseling

Would I still be able to become a police officer if I was court ordered to mental health, when I was like 16 years old. It was because I came out of an abusive environment.

Also still taking medications to get thru the day, but thats just working retail and dealing with a bipolar boss. Other wise that, no need to take medications. Also did some military time, but left early.

I think you have to many red flags attached to you. I believe your chances are slim from what you have told us. Go get an application and read the qualifications and disqualifications for the job you are looking for. It is hard to determine somebody's entire life by the 4 lines of negative issues you gave to us.

No offense, but I don't think you have a future in Law Enforcement.

You medicate because you have a "biploar" boss in a retail environment: Sir, with all due respect: The days I spent in retail were TIT compared to any day I've spent as a cop.

Suicide is off the charts in police work. A ridiculous amount of cops seek counseling. Tons more need it but never go. We deal with life, death, and everything in between. And we're responsible for all of it. If you need to medicate to make it through a day stocking shelves and running a cash register, you'll never make it through a day in an academy or a week on the road.

Also, your excuses are just excuses. You're attempting to fault everyone else for something YOU have going on. Listen, I understand mental illness. I do. I understand you don't wake up and chose to have a problem. I also know that your problem is just like someone who has chronic problems with another system in their body, and there's nothing you can do about it. It's an illness. I know. WE KNOW. But please understand that this job is too hard on those who don't have problems. Those that do have problems are ticking time-bombs, and FOR THEIR OWN WELFARE have no business being a police officer. You have to realize that we serve the public, and "taking a breather", "thinking things out", "counting to 5" aren't options.

There's a lot of things you can do involved in the CJ system. You could probably work in the courts, work in rehabilitation. You might even qualify to be a probation officer or something like that, depending on their duties as they vary from state to state. You might be able to be a civilian investigator for the DA, AG, or private sector. But I just don't see you carrying a gun, tasked with saving the public.

I am a female, not male sorry. My retail is more than stocking shelves. I work in a leasing business (like a rent a center) I deal with the craziest of crazy folks.

I managed to deal with the military for a bit over yrs. I think just because I take a simple pill that it dont mean Im a bad person. Im not making excuses, I am a grown adult and have no reasons to make excuses. Mental illness, yes, I guess you could call it that. I went through a lot, more than most can imagine, its a wonder Im still hanging on.

I just want to help others. I guess, I seen how great the law enforcement here was to me and I want to give back. Somehow, I got adopted as the little sister of the department and its been that way sense. The guys are a bit over protective of me.

If I did probation officer or other, would I still b allowed a gun? i do want one of those bad too.

Also I apologize if it comes off as I was arguing bcause that was not my intentions.

Sorry, but your reply seals the deal for me: You don't have a future in law enforcement.

    Good luck in your endeavors.

No guns in that position, so it clearly doesn't meet your standards.
