    Disqualification Database?

Are names or SSN #'s of candidates who have been disqualified from local law enforcement agencies stored in a database as to blacklist and prevent being hired by another agency?

Not in my state, because standards for disqualification will vary from agency to agency. What may be grounds for disqualification with one agency may be perfectly acceptable with another department.

Not in my state. Any DQ information is revealed during the background investigation.

As already stated, hiring standards vary. However, departments maintain applicant records long term and check with other agencies you've applied to to see what they uncovered as well. So, if you were blackballed for something unique to that agency (say, for instance, they DQ'ed anyone who used pot within the last 10 years instead of the last 5 years at other departments) it may not work against you with other departments. However, if DQ'ed for something that is generally an auto DQ across the board (like intentionally omitting something on your background questionnaire, lying, serious criminal activity, hard drug usage, etc.) then it certainly can and often does.

For some reason it seems to me like you are asking if you have been DQ'd if you can apply somewhere else and hide the DQ from them.

Although there is no "DQ database", there are several ways that an agency can tell that you have had a background check from another agency. I won't go into specifics. Lying about a DQ is certainly an automatic DQ from the new agency- no matter what the original DQ was for.

While there's no database per se, any new department will be contacting some of the same people and the odds of them being told they'd been contacted before by someone else is pretty high. And if so, you can bet the new one will contact the previous agency you applied to.

Word of advice.... if you are considering not advising a potential employer of your DQ status with another agency it can be grounds for dismissal from the employment process and in my department's case.... would be termination of employment if it was found out after you were hired.
