Perhaps rather than say you failed , say the results were inconclusive. By all means explain what you mean but failed is probably a stronger word than inconclusive.

Just think about this for one second. Were you ever at a party and someone handed you a bag of marijuana to look at and then you handed it back with no further connection to it. I am just curious.
No - that never happened to me. There was a question about marijuana that I was asked and admitted to trying it in 2005 when I was a Freshman in college - but, that was it, and that wasn't questioned I never possessed drugs, never tried any other drugs ever. I work out every day and I am very conscience of my health. Main point here is that even though the polygraph came up inconclusive, I know I am telling the truth.
In order to try marijuana you had to possess marijuana. You stated you "Never, Ever" possessed illegal drugs. Do you get it now?
yeah there seems to be some confusion about terminology there... hopefully. As to the polygraph, they're not meant to make you feel good. I'll keep my thoughts on the poly to myself, but the long and short of it is that all you can do is tell the truth. If you did that and failed, move on. If you were holding something back or didn't completely explain your actions to the examiner, then that's probably why you failed.
I'm not really sure what you're asking, actually. Pretty much anything you do when applying to LE will be examined later by the next agency you apply to, so get used to that.
