Are there charges I should pursue?

I recently had a house guest from another state and soon after they returned home I started feeling something didn't seem right with my pc. I finally looked and discovered the remote access was turned on. A few nights ago someone claiming to be my son was talking to me by IM while my son was asleep in the other room...
Then I received a disturbing and altered picture of myself on my cell phone from the person who had been a guest in my home.
The following morning I noticed strange emails sent to all my contacts and learned Yahoo has a tool for viewing recent log in activity into your account...The night before my account was logged into using Yahoo Mobile on a cell phone and from the state where this person lives.
I tried to ask why the picture was sent as it scared and upset me but did not receive an answer...I've taken steps to protect my account such as changing my password but all my personal information is I am certain known...
What if anything can I do?
    Thank You,

    dbaetge,

I don't know that there really is anything you can do as long as the person who hacked your computer has not used your personal information in any type of fraud instance, for example, using your credit card number or accessing your bank to transfer money out of your account. To me it sounds like a civil matter at this point, until some criminal statute has been broken. But then again, I'm just a county deputy and most definitely not an expert in this area.

As for posting this thread in this forum, however, this is the forum for writers to ask questions about stories / screenplays / novels they are writing. I'm moving this thread to the regular Ask-A-Cop section where it will feel more at home.

In California there are laws against any electronic trespassing. The problem is, you have to be able to prove that person bypassed security measures and violated your electronic privacy.
