Man being beaten for gambeling debt

Hi,
I was wondering if you could give me some advice on what I should do.
A little over a year ago I met a guy from an online dating site. We talked over skype, text, email, and phone. We had never met in person. He lives in San Antonio Texas and I live in Loveland Colorado. Then one day I got a text from someone saying he was the man that Rob(the guy I was talking to) owed money to for a sports bet gone bad. He threatened Rob's life and said that if I didn't do what he said then he would hurt rob. I refused and a couple days later Rob was on skype, and I hadnt heard from him via telephone since I had received the message from the guy. Rob had sever bruises and lacerations on his face and said he couldnt talk to me anymore. Months went by without hearing a word from him until recently he (rob) contacted me. We had been talking and planning to meet in person, and he said he fudged up again and lost money again on last weekends football game. Tonight I get a message from the same man with a picture of rob's hand and a finger torn off. What should I do? Should I report it to the san antonio authorities? I only had Robs name and phone number and email, I do not have his home address. Or do you think I am being fooled by this guy and this story is a game he is playing?

BIG would also advice you break contact with this individual. How much personal info of yours does this individual have?

This is Rob's problem. If he's an adult, he needs to contact the police. And if Rob doesn't contact them and you do, I doubt he would cooperate with them.

Besides, this smells if someone contacted you to get you to do something. How do they know about you unless Rob told them? I'd break off contact with Rob, he sounds like he has a lifestyle you don't need.

None, Just my phone number, email, and skype. I had no plans to send him money. What could the san antonio PD do?

Are you sure Rob's injuries were real? Makeup is a powerful thing. I would think it was scam and he is part of it...

Maybe write a letter to S.A. police explaining the situation. Rob and his "assailant" may have done this before and they may have pending cases. It wouldn't hurt and it might stop them from scamming someone more gullible than you.

Sounds like a scam to befriend you and then have you send him money to help him out with an imaginary gambling debt. I would personally cut off communication and not even considering sending him a dime until actual body parts start being mailed to you- and at that point it would be better to call the police rather than respond to him anyhow.
