    Would you hire me....

I am getting ready to go through the academy self sponsored in a couple of months. I just want an opinion on my background and if I would make a good LE candidate. I am 20 years old and my background is decent, I have no criminal history or traffic citations. I have an AAS degree in Criminal Justice with two internships at different Sheriffs offices. I have many LE friends that i will be able to use as references. I have pretty good credit, no debt and am currently paying student loans. I have never been involved in illegal drugs. The bad, I had an automobile accident 3 years ago that does not show up on my DMV record. I had my learners permit suspended 5 years ago for bad grades in high school. Also my employment history is good I think, I have never been fired or terminated. I had 4 jobs in 3 years with 5 months of being unemployed. I need some opinions, any advice would be great!

    Thanks

I wouldn't HIRE you based just on that, but I see nothing that disqualifies you.

You're young, uneducated, and inexperienced. The academy will obviously fix a little bit of that.

Keep on the right track. Stay clean, out of trouble, and study your a$$ off in the academy. One speeding ticket now will keep you out of LE for years, but graduating top of your class may help you get a job a lot faster.

Your future lies completely in your hands right now.

    Good luck!

As G35 Mass said- I don't see anything that is immediately disqualifying from what you posted.

It would all depend on what people had to say during your background interviews, and how well you did in the academy.

It ALSO depends on your competition.

There's nothing to DQ you in what you wrote, but if a bunch of guys with 5 years on at other agencies, all of whom have master's degrees and military experience in their backgrounds also apply... you may have a tough time.

All you can do is try and see what happens. If they say "no," then you can go back, finish your degree (or get some military, etc.) to beef up your resume, and then see what happens.
