    UPS it to him.

Oh, and how ever you send it, require a signature for pickup.

Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

    UPS: Shipping Firearms

Can you give it to one of his family members (or someone else 100% trustworthy) to give to him?

You can't UPS a gun unless you are a dealer sending to another dealer. I vote for using a 3rd party you both know.

What is your concern that he is going to shoot you or that he is going to beat you? The former I wouldn't meet any where. The latter your option would probably suffice.

Take to the PD and explain the situation. They might be willing to hold it in property for him and return it when he comes to pick it up.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

Translation for the intellectually challenged: If the government screws the people too much, it is the right and duty of the people to revolt and form a new government.
