Question Most Likely Ways for Someone Under Death Penalty to Die by Fire

    Hello,

I'm writing a story where a character under the death penalty in the US needs to die by a fire. I am wondering if anyone has ideas of the most likely way this would happen.

Some ideas i had (though I'm not sure how accurate any of them are) were:
-for the hydrogen cyanide to catch on fire from a fire in the area
-for the jail to catch fire while the character is inside waiting for the penalty

Also, I'm wondering what happens to the body afterwards.

    Thanks

You may want to give more detail. IME, people catch on fire either by accident or on purpose. Which will it be? If it's on purpose, it can be self-inflicted or perpetrated by someone else. Which will it be? If it's going to occur in a "jail" (do you mean "prison"?), you will need to figure out the settings/environments and then decide further... What happens to the body after will depend on how it got burned and to what extent it got burned...

Convict was working in the prison kitchen and a natural gas stove leak accidentally ( or another convict intentionally set him up ) burned him.

ok, so the character, let's call him John Smith, murdered a woman. He was tried, got the death penalty and put in prison to wait. in the story, he somehow needs to die by fire, and I was imagining it to be an acciedent, but it could be done on purpose by an unimportant character. there are lots of ideas for ways this could have occured (some dependant on the way in which he was killed) and I was wondering which one would be the most likely. aka, not super cheesey. thanks!

It's YOUR story, you should have an idea of what you want to happen with regards to the plot AND you can do ANYTHING you want. That being said, as far as "most likely" goes, not very many inmates/prisoners die by being burned, intentional or accidental...

Look up spontaneous human combustion on Wikipedia. Use a little imagination and this story-line might work.

Realistically, people on death row don't have contact with other inmates. And prisons don't allow fires or anything of that manner in cells. He would just about have to be set on fire by a guard who has access to him.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine
