    Question Bouncer Responsibilities

    2. If owner insists that a minor is allowed and cops randomly come in and check ID's - is the bouncer responsible since s/he is checking ID's at the door?
    3. If a bouncer knowingly lets a minor in....can s/he be arrested? fined?
    4. Can a bouncer confiscate a fake ID? subsequently bar displays it?
    thank you.

No one from Illinois has responded so I can only tell you about Oregon.

Here, the bouncer has no responsibilities other than to his employer. If he lets in a minor illegally, the owner of the bar will be charged, he's ultimately responsible to the authorities for who's in his bar.

Confiscating ID is a bit gray. You can always do it and if they complain, call the police and let the police confiscate it.

    Pennsylvania answers.

    1. No. ( unless it is a restaurant )

    2. The owner is the one who has the liquor license and he is the one who has the ultimate responsibility to not allow minors in.

    3. The laws here would only work against you if you SERVED booze to the kid. The violation of a minor in a bar is againt the liquor license holder ( owner).

    4. If ID is in doubt , I have no problem with you taking it. Make them produce a 2nd form. 99% of the time , if it is bogus , they will take off. I would be careful on displaying fake ID's in public. They may have pirated some innocent persons info and you are now portraying them in a bad light.

I love straying off topic, and I'm going to do it again here. Come for a little stroll with me....

If you're interested in working in the LE field, I personally suggest staying away from bouncer / doorman jobs. It's only a matter of time until you're involved in a fight (if you haven't already, I know some places where the bouncers rock & roll every night). You can very easily be charged with various assault charges. It's as simple as one guy waking up sober with a black eye, strolling down to court, and filling out a complaint against you. It may not go anywhere, but you'll forever have A&B (or whatever your state calls it) following you. You could hurt someone accidentally while doing your job, or you could be seriously hurt.

Just something to consider. Be safe.

G35 Mass is really right. You're essentially being paid to fight, but the owner won't suffer the consequences if it goes bad. You not only might suffer legal problems, but you could be sued individually and the owner won't be picking up the tab. Cops get sued all the time for doing our job, but our agencies back us in civil litigation and pay any damages awarded. A friend of mine got sued for breaking the arm of some guy that had some weird degenerative bone disease. My friend had no way of knowing that, but the jury found for the plantiff. That could happen to you, but you would be liable for the money.

I think a bigger issue would be the maturity level and judgement that caused you to come to a police website and choose that particular username.

Then you should keep trying since my degree is in biology with a focus in botany. If I have to explain it to you, then it's pretty obvious who is the ignorant one here.

However...I will humor you with this example. Say I went to the social forum for my first graders school and I signed in with the username "Cock69er". Considering the audience most would find it offensive. However, I could just post how they are a bunch of ignorant perverts and inform them that I was born in 1969 which just happens to be the year of the c*ck on the chinese calendar.

A person with a wee bit of brains would consider the audience they are posting to, and what the generally accepted meaning of their username would be. I'm sure if you log into the High Times Forum that nobody would even question your use of your username- although I can guarantee you that it's already taken.

Well obviously! I have a 10 year old and he uses that word as part of his daily vocabulary.

Like I clearly said, you should consider the commonly recognized meanings of the word when you pick a username- especially if you expect to be taken seriously on this site. As you can tell by the reputation you have received from board members- I'm not alone in my feelings.

I will indeed block you at this point because you obviously don't, and will not ever get it.
