providing false information to a officer in missouri

My daughter was at her boyfrinends sisters house, when the police came in looking for someone in the house. my daughter heard her boyfriend telling the police that the person they were looking for was not there. When they asked her if he was in the house she told them no, they did find the guy in the house and my daughter was arrested for supplying false information and was booked and held for 8 hours. she is 17, and this happened in kcmo. what will happen when she goes to court and is this a felony charge? should i hire a lawyer?

We're not here to give legal advice (nor are law enforcement officers qualified to do so). If you wish to hire a lawyer that is a choice you need to make as the parent.

I'm from Australia so I can't answer either, but basically what Kimble said applies all over. If you feel you do not have enough answers, then you should probably speak to a lawyer, not Police...and not Police on a website.

And as a parent maybe you should teach your children not to lie and harbour fugitives. Just an idea and not to be taken as legal advice in anyway.

    Good luck

Since she is minor, you will probably need to be at court with her.
During the first appearance, you will find out about the charges.
(something tells me there is way more to this story.)
If it is a felony, you better shop for a lawyer.
Depending on her past history, it would probably be a good idea to
    speak with an attorney anyway.
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL

17 is not a minor. It will also depend on if the charge is city or state. Always get a lawyer for legal counsel. One who represents them self in court has a fool for a Lawyer. Good words to remember.
Oh and don't lie to the Police, those are good ones too.

In Missouri, 17 is no longer an adult. I was adding that since the event in question happened in MO.
Looking back I guess I should have said that the first time.

I just reread my last statement, I have to stop commenting so early in the morning. I meant to say in Missouri 17 is considered an adult not a minor.
