How do you know if you received a ticket or points?

So a cop pulled me over for speeding 55 mph in a 35 mph zone.
The cop asked me questions and stuff and I answered them honestly.
He went back to his car and checked out my license and registration out but he let me go because I had a chief of police card.

I was wondering if he didnt say "Its your warning" or "You have 2 points" or "You have a ticket" and instead said "Don't speed" and let me off.

Do I have any hidden tickets or points that he maybe forgot to tell me on my record???
Also he took my police card, is this standard??

And just out of curiosity do cops put like a small footnote that would say..."pulled over but let go due to certain circumstances"?

I would say that he didn't give you a ticket and he's probably returning the chief of police card to the chier letting him know he stopped you for speeding.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Why don't you ask the Chief of Police who gave you the card?

Furthermore, where was this Chief last year when you needed advice about this situation?

In my state you aren't ticketed unless I complete a ticket. No ticket = no formal complaint of a crime.

I guess an officer could forget to hand you the ticket, but that's pretty unlikely. Most officers I've seen have a little spiel they go through that ends with "... and here is your copy of the ticket...", which would sound pretty silly without handing something over.

I don't see what state you're in but you could call the district court and ask them. Some states allow you to search your name in a caselaw internet database, which would reveal if you have any outstanding tickets as well.

I don't write down why I let someone go, only why I cite them. I usually give written warnings if not a citation anyway, for accountability purposes. I guess a 'chief's card' might carry weight in some places... I know where I work, you better know the chief's number and give him\her a call on your phone... at 2am. Otherwise you better not be throwing names around.

What is a chief of police card?

20 over should have bought you a ticket.
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL
