Question Got a MIP and I am 18. Need to know what might happen to me.

Hi, I am one of the passengers with the previously MIP guy. I was riding with a friend (Thought he was sober) and got pulled over by a cop. we were tested on Blood Alcohol Concentration and I got .051. Then I got a ticket with the court date and my charge (MIP/C) on it. Since I was 18 at the time I was caught (which means I was a legally adult) I wonder what might happen to me. Please give me some answers. Thanks a lot.

Why do you need it off your record so badly? Sounds like a little better judgement beforehand would've saved you a big headache. As far as if you lose your license a friend of mine (in Colorado) got one and got a fine and a couple alcohol information classes, he's 19. You can talk to a lawyer about getting it expunged, but any law enforcement agency can easily find it, so it's not like it never happenned.

Ok one more time. MIP/C in Washington is a gross misd punisable by maxium of one year in jail and a $5000 fine. I have never seen this given out; it is usually a small fine, with community service, with drug/alcohol assessment and alcohol abuse treatment if warranted. This is the criminal side.

On the civil side, if you are convicted of MIP/C you may have your license suspended for one year

Wow, 1st offense in Michigan is fine only. Never any jail time for an MIP...2nd offense may lose license for 90 days.

Thanks for the advice, I Actually checked the website with the other MIP guy. One thing i don't understand is why MIP will lose driver's license for 1 year but DUI (under age 21) will only get license suspended for 90 days. Thanks.
