    Pursuits

If you could listen to ONE song while you were in a pursuit, what would it be?

Mine, it'd be Limp Bizkit- Rollin

Oh, since people think im talking about if they were in a real life pursuit, im not getting at that. Just a song to get you to calm down or something, hypothetically speaking. I dont know how to word it.

i prefer to be paying attention to what the f**k i'm doing. just what i want, cops running around jamming out during a pursuit. when i drive the p*ss out of my car on a track, i generally turn the radio down so i can concentrate on what i'm doing.

    Sunshine, Lollipops And Rainbows
    by Lesley Gore

    Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together,
    Brighter than a lucky penny,
When you're near the rain cloud disappears, dear,
And I feel so fine just to know that you are mine.

My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
That's how this refrain goes, so come on, join in everybody!

    Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
Everything that's wonderful is sure to come your way
When you're in love to stay.

    Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
Everything that's wonderful is sure to come your way
'Cause you're in love, you're in love,
And love is here to stay!

This is the song that Chief Wiggum was listening too when he got in a pursuit on The Simpsons in case anybody didn't know :D

Let's not take it too seriously here. We know that during a pursuit (my force uses the terminology "urgent duty driving" ) if we're driving we can barely hear the police radio, if we're in the passenger seat we're too busy telling our Comcen what the heck is going on to worry about tunes..... but.........if it were possible...........Born to Run, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Loud.

Yeah, If I were in a pursuit of a vehicle, music would pretty much be the last thing I am worried about. However if I was a movie cop in a pursuit, it would be "Down with the Sickness" by Disturbed.

In a REAL pursuit you wouldn't even hear the music because your attention is very focused on catching the bad guy without hurting anybody else including yourself. Also, you must keep dispatch updated with your location and be listening for your supervisor to call you off.

True. I was on a ride the other night, we werent exactly in a pursuit, but kinda. We were flying 80-90mph trying to catch up with a DUI that we saw at a red light. even then... even as a rider, couldnt concentrate on anything but what that car was doing and what instructions were coming over the radio

About 1996 I was in a 33 mile pursuit that lasted 19 minutes. I was not thinking of ANY music during the pursuit, of that I can assure you.

Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett. Need to cut down on the tension just a little bit. Of course between driving and the police radio, changing stations is probably the 617,756,847 thing going through my head at the time.
My wife left me alone with a case of Corona, a bag of limes and the cat. Beer is gone. What will I do with the extra limes and the cat?

As Oscarmitre indicated, we engage in Urgent Duty Driving.

Perhaps this might show my age but I like to hum a few lines from Alice Cooper's song "No More Mister Nice Guy"; and at the time of intrcepting the alleged offender the lilting tones of "the 1812 Overture" would be my next favourite theme. Hehehehehehe.

This was an interesting thread for me to be on and more interesting is that I took it for what it is talking about movies and songs that go with pursuits. My innocent daughter was killed in a police pursuit. I have a more serious question to ask: I have read news stories where officers see a wanted felon walking or will observe someone who they want to arrest outside their home. The person then gets into the car, the officer signals for the person to pull over and, of course, this individual flees. In our case, a mother called the police to say her unlicensed daughter took her car without permission. The police spot the car and the girl is driving along (not speeding and not running stop signs). In the police report the girl stops at a friend's house and the police watch as she picks up her friend. My guess is that the car had to be stopped and this would have been a safer time to approach the girl. Instead, she drives away and the police immediately signal for her to pull over; now she flees, starts speeding and running stop signs. While being pursued, she runs stop sign after stop sign. At the fifth stop sign, she slams into our van, killing my daughter who was a passenger. Why don't you arrest the suspect before they get into car?

Just wondering... who was at your home at the time she got into the car?
