what would a cop do, walking away

Hi. did something not so smart today. I was going to an apointment, on my skateboard. I got to the 'downtown' part and stopped and picked up my skateboard. I'm walking along and this cop pulls up, I kept walking, he calls me back so I go back. He told me he saw me skateboardng in a restricted area. I told him no, I stopped in time. We talked a while. He said hes going to search me, I'm on probation, he knows that. Then this kid goes past us on a skateboard. The cop yells at him. Kids like f-off. So the cop says to me 'wait here' (I think that parts probably important). And the cop goes after this other kid. And this other kid's being annoying and the cops taking ages and I was just left standing there. And I'm looking at my watch, my apointment was a probation meeting so I'm like yeah, I gotta be on time. I was standing there almost 10 minutes, I'm watching the cop and the kid, cop didn't look at me once this whole time. I don't know what they're doing for 10 minutes. Their telling each other their life stories. So I picked up my stuff and went to my meeting. Cop didn't say anything to me, didn't look. I looked back a few times while I went down the block. By the time I'm at the end of the block the cop and kid are wrestling.

So what would you do when you came back to your car and I wasn't there? (I know it was dumb I'm not so good at thinking and that seemed like a good idea at the time - I forgot my phone so couldn't call and say I was late and I didn't think about being able to fix it later) The cop knows my name. So what do cops do when someone does this? Can I get charged with soemthing? Would he do anything?

    This is in OH.

Relax. The officer was obviously busy with another incident and you had a legitimate excuse that could be checked out if necessary. If you meet again explain the situation to him and be polite about it.

Oh yeah? I like your answer I hope he thinks like you. would you still do the skateboarding citation ticket thing? - he hadn't given me anything but I think he was planning to. Or would you think maybe i wasn't some big felon after there was some other kid trying to kick you in the balls and let me go? thanks for the reply

In my state , if you are on probation you are required to tell your PO of ANY contact with a police officer. ANY.

You absolutely tell him/her of what happened so that the officer doesn't call them first and file a complaint against you ( as far as being on probation). And just because the officer had " bigger fish to fry" doesn't mean he forgot about you.

Be right up front with your probation officer. Do not even think about skateboarding where you aren't supposed to. If this officer observes you again it will be very bad for you.

Since there's a possibility the officer would cite you for skateboarding in a prohibited area (whether you think you were or not), you should have told your probation officer. If the officer did decide to follow up and cite you, it would violate your probation, and your subject to serve the rest of whatever sentence you have. If I were the probation officer I would rather hear the story from you rather than getting a call from the LEO.

ok, yeah I told my PO. The cop didn't forget about me. He came and knocked on my door and was like 'where'd you go?'. Scared the s*** out of me. (yeah i would walk away from the dedicated cop...in a small town...with nothin else to do). But he was alright. Thanks for the advice about my PO, he said he's checking my story.
