I'm a poor collage student form RI. When traveling with a friend we don't want to spend the money on hotels. Sleeping in the car in fine by us. I was wondering where a decently safe place for two guys to pull over and spend the nigh would be. I don't want to be arrested for loitering.

An interstate visitor center (truck stop). I've pulled over into those a few times to get a couple hours sleep with my wife before continuing our journey (Pennsylvania and upstate New York). I wouldn't do it right outside of a major city like NYC. Be safe.

Thanks for replying. It's not always easy to find state welcoming centers and/or truck stops. Are 24/7 shopping areas like Walmart and some malls safe-ish places to sleep or will we get in trouble? Or does this mean I need to plan my trips better with welcoming centers in mind?
