I'm a Math Major but want to become an officer

I am 20 years old and I am about to begin my junior year as a math major, but this summer I have taken up an interest in becoming a police officer. I don't want to waste my education, partly because it is expensive. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can do anything as a police officer of some sort that will also allow me to use my education. I just don't want to be stuck in an office, I want to do something out and about. Also I was wondering who i could talk to about this? Would I just visit my local state police station to ask some of these questions?

Any degree is acceptable for police officer. In fact, it's better to major in a non related area in case for some reason you don't get hired (openings are very competitive right now) or perhaps you find it's not what you expected it to be, you have something to fall back on. Stay in a major you enjoy, don't switch to anything law enforcement related, it would be a waste of time and money.

And if you become a cop, you won't get stuck in an office if you don't want to be, trust me on that one.

    Good luck....
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine
