    Post Please Help

Ok so there is this kid that lives 3 houses down the block from me. He likes to ride his bike up and down the block. Recently hes been riding his bike all over my yard. At first im like ok w/e. But a week goes by and he continues to ride his bike all over my front yard. Its really annoying. So one day i go out and i ask him if he could not ride his bike on my yard, to stay on the sidewalk. He didnt say anything and rode away. Few minutes later i hear really loud knocking on my door. So i go out to see who it is and its his dad. He tells me "what you tell my kid?" and i told him that i asked him not to ride his bike all over my yard to please stay on the sidewalk. The dad gets offended by this and start to threatened me telling me hes going to beat me up this and that. Im 23 btw. Im not afraid to fight if i have to protect myself, but im not the fighting type of person, im more of a computer nerd . So i just walked away from the situation. A few weeks have gone by and the kid still rides his bike on my lawn like nothing. Im afraid to tell the kid anything cuz i dont want to start any trouble. Im just not the fighting type of person. So when someone tells me they are going to beat me up i do get scared easily. Also i caught the kid stealing a fan from my lawn. Its a small garden fan that shows what direction the wind is blowing. I was thinking of calling the cops but i didnt.

My questions are what should i do about this kid riding all over my lawn? should i ask him again not to. If his dad threatens me again can i throw punches at him as self defense? Can i use brass knuckles to defend myself?
What is the rule on self defense? does he have to hit me first? or just him threatened me? please help i dont know what to do.

Contact the local police department and ask them to speak with the father and the child. If the dad comes back over to your house, contact the police each and every time he does. Tell the dad that he is not welcome on your property. If necessary file a protection/restraining order so it would be an automatic arrest if he came within so many feet of your house. I doubt it will have to come to that, but it appears that the dad needs a little police interaction to get the point across.

You have a right to defend yourself if you feel in fear for your safety. Brass knuckles are illegal in my state so that's an automatic arrest. Even if the father provoked the fight and you used brass knucks, you would likely be facing aggravated assault charges in TN because a weapon was used and/or serious bodily injury occurred if you hit him with the knuckles.

Google "Water Scarecrow" and buy it and install it with your garden hose! You will be amazed how fast the kid will stay off your lawn!

Thank you scott for your reply. Next time the kid comes around i will ask one more time for him not to ride on my yard. If he gets his father i will call the cops. Thank you so much for your advice.

Problem is, when I was a kid I would have loved something like that in the summer. The yard would be full of curtain climbers....

Yep, my grand-kids would love it! Adrik is old enough now (5) to try and trick other kids into walking within range.

Oh yeah, my 8 year old grandson, Clay would love to trick his 10 year old sister into walking into it. And then there would be hell to pay for him for several days from her. They love each other and are extremely loyal to one another, but they love to mess with each other. I have no idea where they got that from.

How about this idea.....why not install a fence around your yard, even an inexpensive smaller fence, one that he cannot ride his bike over/through. No trespassing signs never hurt in case you end up having to have the kid or his father locked up for treespassing...
