Would this be a summary, indictable, or hybrid offense?

If a 14 year old posted their full name online and got into a stupid/immature arguement with total strangers online and said ''You might want to work on your attitudes, it could be a problem for you in the future. Im saying this for your safety.'' The kid didn't mean it in a threatening manner. This was three years ago. In Canada, BC, Vancouver. If it matters, the child was often bullied and has mental health problems.

No problem with authorities. Not a very bright thing to do though.

Does not sound like a direct threat. At the most it would be a misdemeanor and that would be stretching it. I imagine the statute of limitations would apply and it could not be charged anyway.

With that said (criminal side) it may cause issues in pre-employment background, but I imagine it would have to have been much more severe than listed to be looked at with any seriousness, especially coming from a 14 year old being a keyboard warrior.
This career is not a sprint, it is a marathon.

In Florida, arguments aren't illegal, even if their on the interweb. As others have said, tho, watch what info you put out there (i.e. full name, etc.)

"Or else!" isn't even a crime in Oregon if it's face to face. Any threat has to be specific as to the future action threatened.

Funny you mention it- every time somebody tells me to do something "or else" I always ask them "or else what?". I have yet to have anybody give me a good enough "or else" to make me do what they want me to do.

So you guys think the now 17 year old shouldn't turn themselves in? The site legalmatch seems to say all kinds of threats are punishable no matter how vague. If they did turn themselves in, what would the police probably do? This teen has no other crimes. This in Canada, BC just to remind you.

What's a site legalmatch? All threats are punishable, no matter how vague? Is that a Canadian law or a site term of service?

It wasn't a terms of service or Canadian law, it's a website to find lawyers in any area so it wasn't specifically a Canadian site. It was the only website I found that said threats said in all manners could get you in trouble. I know it was an idle threat but people could misunderstand it. If the person turned themselves in out of guilt, what would likely happen?

That's simply not true, at least in the USA. Canada, I have no idea about.

Thanks. I guess the police wouldn't be interested even if they did turn themself in.
