    Silly Question

    Hey all,

I am new to the forum, and would like to start by giving a large thanks to all LEOs and public servants on the site.

I do have a strange question. Why are officers required to wear their hats while approaching a vehicle? Just a silly question.

Tickets aren't valid unless the officer is wearing their hat.

You failed to introduce yourself per forum rules.

Thanks for the quick reply, G35.

Sorry for not following forum protocol. I have since introduced myself in the correct section.

    Hey, no prob. Welcome.

Did you get a ticket when the officer wasn't wearing his hat?

I'd just bring it up in court. It's what's called a "defense", meaning something you use to defend against the charges or, in this case, ticket.

I hate giving people advise on how to get out of tickets, but I'm more against police unprofessionalism and misconduct. I want you to have the police department you deserve, hat and all.

No, no ticket involved. Just "lurking" on the site and saw some references to hats, and thought I would ask.

Now that I got the true answer (thanks), any "silly" answers?

I got nothing. Way too tired and, honestly, a little hung over.

It does not count unless you were wearing your hat.
