    Authority amongst various branches of law enforcement

    Oops, sorry. My dumbass must be blind. Didn't see that there is a sticky for this already. Mods please close and dispose of this thread.

    Out of curiosity and hoping for concrete answers from verified LEOs rather than Google. Who has utmost authority between city, county, state, and sheriff law enforcers? Is it a matter of location and jurisdiction? Do they share equal power or must one department acquiesce to another? Does each group have a specific responsibility they focus on over others? And then you have the feds; if I'm not mistaken I think they're only involved when a crime happens on federal property, is terrorism related, or something they can interject themselves into by using the interstate commerce clause.
