Re: extradition, still waiting for pick up

Good Morning... So in relation to all of this husband waived extradition last week, 10 days is up on Friday and he has a court date that day to determine what is going on...

Bottom line, he is stilll being held in FL with no word from RI.... good news, bad news, doesn't matter??? I know they have 10 days and can file for an extension for an additional 10 days but I kind of thought they would have picked him up by now...

I think some people have been waiting in line at the RI DMV to renew their license longer than 10 days.... RI doesn't do anything fast except spend money.

    Re:

You're welcome on the update. I figured it was the least I could do since you all were so kind in answering a very scared wife's questions.

Tomorrow 10 days is up and Rhode Island still hasn't picked him up. He has a court date tomorrow morning and supposedly according to his lawyer/the judge/the law if RI has not filed an extension they have to release him. I am cautious to believe it is that easy but I guess stranger things have happened.

Here is a follow up question for you all: He originally was advised to fight the extradition in hopes that the paperwork hassle for the state would encourage them to not come get him. When his lawyer spoke to the ADA Office in RI they said "yes, we will be picking him up". He then went back before a judge to waive extradition to speed up the process, no point in gumming up the system when he would just get extradited at the end of the day anyway you know?

Is it possible that RI didn't get the memo that he's not fighting the extradition anymore? Or is it more likely that RI doesn't have the time/resources/inclination to send people to FL to pick someone up on a 4 year old FTA warrant? I just really thought they would have picked him up by now...

Thanks again, I am so clueless about all of this stuff, your insight has been invaluable to my sanity

20 days later, he is still awaiting extradition to RI...

    Hello all,

So now my husband has been sitting in a FL jail waiting for RI to pick him up for 20 days now. He has a court date next week to determine what to do with him, what do you all think are the chances the state of RI is going to pick him up now? I really thought they would have done it by now!

    Re:

Well apparently the rates just went down because he was picked up about an hour ago. Certainly took them long enough.

New question: How long will it take until he arrives and is processed in RI? (that sounds like I am talking about some variety of meat but anyway...).

I assume they will fly with him, driving seems a little tedious. I just would really like to see him sometime soon as I have been in NH with family since shortly after his arrest and he has been in FL still all this time.
