I always see cops in dugouts, and on the field between innings in major league baseball games. I just wanted to know who gets picked to do it? Seems like it would be a blast. Have any officers here ever done it, and if so was it a fun time? Thanks!

I've never been in the dugout or anything like that, but I did used to get to work overtime when I was a pollice officer at my local junior college and get to stand on the sidelines of the basketball games!

I've worked numerous MLB games in the past (no I won't say where). No, it's not as fun as you'd think. We're security and we're expected to be working, not spectating.
I will say that doing those jobs killed whatever respect I once had for pro sports players. With the barest handful of exceptions, a bigger group of self absorbed prima-donna douchebags you'll never find.
Worked Yankee Stadium half a dozen times. Not fun....just like Curt said. Guys assigned to the Stadium 365 get teh posh posts like the dugout or bull pin. Schlubs likeme got traffic or the concourse or bleacher creatures.
