Have you ever been fired? Or quit a job before? Did it effect your hiring process??

I've been fired before , and recently quit a job because the supervisor was a prick. Just because I had two days off and made reservations with my wife my hours were cut from 40hrs a week to 8 hours a week. All because I refused to go in and pay out of pocket to cancel my reservations.

    We get that occasionally.

At the last minute an officer will be told that the needs of the department are greater that his need for a scheduled vacation. Often the officer will have prepaid several thousands dollars to a resort or tour company in connection with his vacation that he cannot get back because of the last minute cancelation.

The officer then walks into the report writing room and prepares a travel expense claim seeking reimbursement for his lost money. In doing so he cites the state Labor Code section that requires an employee to be fully reimbursed for any expenses his employer requires him to incur during the course of his duties. That section also prohibits an employer from retaliating against the employee for exercising his rights in such matters, (Your state probably has similar laws.) About 20 minutes after dropping the travel expense claim on his supervisor's desk, the officer's cancelled vacation is usually uncancelled.

You just need to know how to work the system.

Every job I've left prior to my last one, I quit for various reasons. Some were to move on, some because I didn't like the work or who I worked for. Never been fired in my life though.

My department was always good about exempting people who had vacation plans when something came up if they'd signed up for the time according to the rules. We have a vacation sign up every year during March. The first of April, the schedule is posted after all the seniority details are worked out and it's pretty much fixed in stone after that. If you sign up for a couple of days off other than during that period and if they need you, they will cancel it. I've had that happen more than a few times. Even then, they've usually been reasonable if you show that the time off is for something important to you.

I've never been short on complaints about my old command staff, but I have to give most of them credit on personal matters like that. If approached in a reasonable manner about this kind of thing, they almost always have reacted the same.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

    I doubt it.

Impossible for us to answer with any certainty because 1) we only have your side of the story and 2) we don't know what the backgrounds of other applicants applying with you will be. Only way to find out is apply, be upfront and honest, and hope for the best.

    This is how

This is exactly how things have turned out. I have two days off of work, I receive a phone call from my supervisor She indicates she needs me to help her out the other petson has quit and they need my help. I told her ill get back to her when the manager from the telly gets back to me.. She calls back 30 mins later cussing me out! I had 40 hours a week then she cut my hours to 8 hours a week only saturdays. So I called her and told her im done. She gave me my last check cut my hourly pay from 9.00 an hour to 7.25 an hour.. But im happy im done with that place.
