While some departments would tolerate a person experimating with marijuana when they were younger, but the sale of any drugs I think would be frowned upon. You stated that you never smoked marijuana or other drugs, the question I would ask is why did you sell it. The sale of drugs is a felony, no matter how small the amount.

Are you asking if you should admit to selling the drugs or try to lie? There is no choice here, if you did thins you need to tell them and let the chips fall where they may. They will respect you a lot more if you are honest, even if you don't get in. You are still young. Even if you don't get in now the more time you put between your app and the incident the better off you will be, providing you don't do anything else.
And your whiney *** crybaby excuse would be....

Don't lie, they can tell and you will be disqualified. And for any other job you apply for in the future, it will be on record that you were DQ'ed for telling a lie during the hiring process. You may have a shot at a job in a few years if they don't hire you now. Don't blow it by trying to hide that you sold some MJ.

It is idiotic to believe an obselete machines can prove lies. Sweat, pulse and heart rate - give me a break! We all respond diferently under pressure, and to think a minor lie will instantaneously cause a consistant biolgical response within a nano second is stupid.

The technique is however an excellent tool to use to get information out of people because they think it does work! The richter machine that gives those squiggles is just theatre and the practictioner is very adept at leading you.

What is the point of this? He has to take a poly, so he asked a question, that's all. This isn't a debate on polygraphs, so don't turn it into that.

DOC my hold this against you, but then again maybe not. Alot of contriband that enters into a corrections facility is brought in by staff, either intentionally or unintentionally. They could perceive that you were 'ok' with selling at one time that you still might be 'ok' with selling drugs.
Then again, DOC is usually hard up on hiring people, and this is a fairly minor sale, so you never know.

Uh, I said uneducated. Not "not smart" or "dumb". The fact of the matter is that someone much smarter than myself and you decided this tool would help in pre-employment. Live with it.

no actually, someone smarter then both of us determined this would help them succesfully weed out applicants, which they have even admitted too. that i have a problem with.

oh and your uneducated remark must mean that because it worked for you then your thoughts must be right, and anyone who disagrees must be wrong. educated would be gathering the actual facts, looking at the cases. and reading the report from the national acadmy of science that says the polygraph has ZERO validity
