    Citation and permanent record

My question is this (I am a Pennsylvania college student and have no criminal record), will getting a citation affect my permanent record?

Here is the full story: Today my sister's boyfriend assaulted me and I called the police. He is currently on probation for theft. He has had multiple run-ins (mostly involving violence and death threats) with the police for several years. However, his uncle is well known and the police have mostly looked the other way (this current probation being the only thing he ever received).

One of the officers that arrived to this incident was one of his "friends." She said that he claimed that I attacked him and that the only thing that she could do was give us both a citation. I want the citations, as it would let his P.O. know that his is still getting into trouble, so I am waiting to see if she actually sends me one or else I will call up and inform the police that I told her that I did want one.

    Yes and no.

In PA citations are issued for a summary violation which, by itself, will not show up on your criminal record. Since PA is such a public friendly state, there is a website where the citation could be found, but it will list the disposition as well. If I checked your criminal history, it wouldn't show.

    Magisterial District Judge Docket Sheet

It amazes me how many people don't know about this site in this state. It's no secret. EVERYTHING is listed here, even traffic citations.

Thank you so much for the quick response. I just wanted to keep my record clean and didn't want a situation like this being an issue. I have heard of that website, but it doesn't bug me at all if this shows up there. Thanks again.
