Maybe. Some agencies will accept an associated in lieu of a high school diploma or GED. It all depends on their civil service rules and will vary from agency to agency.

The easiest thing to do is take the GED exam. I believe it only takes about five hours. Once you pass, don't forget to mail your test scores to your state department of education or whatever agency actually issues the GED certificate. I took the GED in 1965 but didn't know that I had to mail in my scores to get the certificate. I got hired off my test score sheet, went on to college and went up the ranks, only to find that I really didn't really have my GED. I finally mailed in my scores and got my GED officially in 2003.

Depends on the department in Oregon, but Portland requires a GED or diploma as well as college, military service or prior experience.

I would strongly advise getting a GED.

Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine
