    Criminal Procedure

Hello, I'm a Senior Law Enforcement Major in Minnesota and I'm doing some research on how Police and other law enforcement offical's view criminal Procedure. If you could answer a few questions I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you.

What are your experiences in dealing with issues of criminal procedure?

Did you feel like you were properly trained to deal with criminal procedure?

Is there anything that you see wrong with our practice of criminal procedure?

Throughout your experiences being a COP, would you say most officers follow criminal procedures? (For example, 4th amendment, right against unreasonable searches and seizures)

Do you believe that criminal procedures are overly restrictive on law enforcement, or do you believe that they are acceptable and workable? What are your reasons?

Don't you think that it would be a better experience for you to go to a police agency and interview an officer in person? And it would save us doing all the writing so you can cut and paste.

Shade, the problem is that students are constantly coming here and asking questions that require fairly complex answers that need to be written out in essay form by us. That's not why we come here. This is a place for us to relax and hang out.

If you have questions that can be answered in a few short sentences, some of us are willing to do that, but your answers would require at least several paragraphs, if not pages.

As retdetsgt said, none of us cops come here looking to do homework for a random CJ student. You aren't doing any harm done by asking, but most of us made it through school by doing our own work, not posting our homework questions on an internet forum for others do do for us.

I have to agree with the above.

Plus, the term "criminal procedure" is so ridiculously broad that there is no real way to answer the questions. "Criminal Procedure" is in nearly every single aspect of how cops do their jobs. If you want answers, ask better more focused questions.

Shade, I just want to tell you also that we ask our newest members to go to the New Member Introductions forum and post a thread telling us a little about themselves before they walk into our internet home and start hammering away at us with questions. It's truly considered bad form here.

Your question is odd too. Criminal procedure or Constitutional law? You're not necessarily dealing with 4th Amendment issues in Criminal procedure. The procedural aspect begins with the arrest and follows the steps through the criminal justice system (preliminary hearings, grand jury, motions, arraignment, etc). It begins after an arrest is made. It sounds to me that you're addressing more of the Constitutional issues. Unless you're attending a school that mixes the two up...

How would it look on a research paper to have monikers like what we use here as an official source of information ? Go to your local PD , ask to interview a police officer in person. You can then use their REAL name and agency. Something you won't get here.
