I need to interview a criminal justice professional for a school paper due tomorrow

Hello,
I don't usually wait till the last minute to complete my school work. However I have a 3 week old at home and am a full time student. I have a paper due tomorrow at Midnight AZ time.
I have not worked in the criminal justice field before but I am majoring in CJUS.
I just need some opinions, thoughts, personal experiences etc that I can use to write my paper.

Here are the instructions:
• Prepare a 700- to 1,050-word paper about the climate of your agency, focusing on the organizational behavior factors that have the most significant influence, such as:

o leadership (upper management, middle management, and lower level).
o culture.
o systems.
o law.
o influential stakeholders (political bodies, community groups, employees, and other agencies).

• Explain why these factors have the influence they do, whether the influence is positive or negative, and what management must do to improve the organizational climate.

Note. If you are currently or were formerly employed by a criminal justice agency, use your agency as the basis for this paper. If you are not employed by a criminal justice agency, you may obtain the background information required to complete the assignment by either interviewing criminal justice employees about their workplace experience or using recent newspaper or periodical articles as the basis for your observations and conclusions about a particular agency.

It's due on a Sunday? ..and at the stroke of midnight no doubt.. Must be one of those "AWESOME" online classes. University of Ripoff?

I'm really confused by your reply. I am an online student at the University of Phoenix. I am 4 classes away from completed my bachelors. I started my schooling at a traditional university. The papers are normally due Monday night by midnight AZ time. However this teacher wants them turned in by Sunday. The classes start on Tuesdays, therefore the school week is Tues-Mon. I simply need some insight from one who is working in the CJ field. That's all.

I too am in school attending an online university and in the two years of taking classes, I have NEVER seen one that didn't give the paper assignment in the first week of class. So, basically - you waited until the day before it was due and only now it's the emergency??

Sorry, I have no sympathy for you, because I have a full-time job and am doing school full time as well, and have a wife and two small children at home to tend with, yet I manage to get all MY work done.

I don't need anyone to do the essay. I am more than capable. I just need some personal insight on what your workplace enviorment is like. I have never worked in the field so I don't have that knowledge. I just learned recently the rankings of police officers.

The bullet point for leadership I'm just going to describe the chain of command from police officer to police chief.
But I would like to know about the different cultures in your work place. I'm not sure what the instructions mean by systems and laws, perhaps you understand that?
Also, who are some influential stakeholders in your agency?

This is the first week of class and I am have been recovering from labor and delivery. I don't care for your comments or sympathy. If you can't help then don't comment. I'm not asking for anyone's sympathy at all.

Amber, was my answer confusing? Ask a cop is for questions people have about something going on in their lives. I don't have the time nor inclination to write an essay for you that you can cut and paste.

I would suggest you take your baby and go to a police station and ask if an officer is willing to talk to you and YOU do all the writing. We come here for relaxation and fun, not to do homework for people. Most of us have already graduated from college.

I am also inclined to point out the obvious that an interview is generally a spoken conversation where you ask questions. Not a "Hey, fill in the answers to these questions." - over the internet.

Then you should have asked the questions instead of that long initial post explaining what you needed to turn in.

I'd also like to point out that most (if not every!) instructor/professor has no problem explaining what they want in a completed assignment. If you have questions as to the nature of your assignment, your instructor has the answers you seek.

Also, most (if not every!) would understand and give a deadline extension for someone just out of childbirth, were you to only ask.

Keep in mind that some of us here teach criminal justice classes on the side at various institutions, including online ones. Ask your teacher for an extension and go to a local PD to get your answers, then write your essay accordingly.

AND... the answers / opinions that we give you will not include our name or agency. Nor will it likely apply to your state or town. While I am not a professor , I can't imagine that you can have in your footnotes that " Deputy Dog " on a website was your source of information for a professional paper??!!

You are a CJ major at a on-line university. Many here have taken and even taught those classes. As with any person in college, they usually take their major very seriously. And as with any school program, curve balls are few and far between. That means when you signed-up for a the class, you were told about the paper and assignment.

Additionally, since pregnancies are not surprises, you signed-up for the class when you were pregnant and knew you would have limited times or resources. Everyone here has spouses, significant others, part time jobs, second part time jobs, community activities and children. Yet we all manage to get done what we need to get done, without waiting till the last minute. Cops by nature are salty folks and when we see somebody declaring an "emergency" because they waited to the last minute for something, we don't like getting heat for such. You came off giving attitude and being somewhat rude. Additionally, I don't know any professor who is not accommodating to students with special circumstances if asked.

My old precinct CO said it best: "Your failure to prepare adequately does not constitute a police emergency. next time plan ahead." With that, I think this thread serves no further useful purpose and I am closing it.
