    My cousin got busted

Ok im from nashville,tn my cousin got busted by a cop he had a gun, pot, and pills(the cop paced him so he got pulled over)2 months later
so they did a under cover sting which he had 3 pounds of pot and a gun and pills in his apartment.
Ok so he gets charge with all that on top of that it was by a daycare.
Now he bails out (which i dont understand why) but anyway 2 months down the road he gets pulled over again he had pot, cocain, they also have proof that he was selling his own pills for money(Xanax, lortabs) now his lawyer said he can get him out of it because first the cop wasnt trained on pacing so he could get those charges out and the undercover cops made it where it was by a daycare so that could be dropped. Now thats not right i love my cousin but as a mother he needs to serve some time he hasnt got got of jail yet since his last pull over how can he or can he get those charges dropped????

You are getting third hand information here.

In other words, you are hearing what your cousin SAYS his lawyer told him.

COULD he get it dropped in the right circumstances? Sure.

WILL it happen? Who knows? Give the system time to do its thing. I bet he takes a plea before it's all said and done.

Not trained on pacing? Who needs 'training' to look at their speedometer and read the numbers??!!

I don't know any cop who ISN'T trained in pacing. Hell, it's not rocket science.

I highly doubt that's how it went down. I'm sure the officer is familiar with pacing so that excuse won't fly. They don't have to hold certifications in pacing. I've sat in Nashville courts enough to know. Metro Nashville PD officers have detailed maps of where every school is to apply additional charges if the offense occurred within the school "drug-free" zone. If he had marijuana, cocaine, xanax, and lortabs he's probably looking at some serious jail time, especially with poss w/intent to sell. His attorney is going to spit anything at him to get a retainer to represent him. I would bet a good amount of money that a plea deal will be entered in general sessions and it won't go any further. That attorney knows better than to take this case to trial. Your cousin is going to do some jail time with those charges, even with a plea. If you want to take a look at the actual warrants the officers wrote, go to this link and type in your cousin's name and it will tell you the whole story (and not just his side):

A defense attorney will always tell their client they have a way to get them off. They will play around in court for a while, rack up a huge bill for your cousin, then tell them 'sorry, but I think the best option is to take a plea'. Cousin goes to prison, lawyer gets the money, case never goes to trial, and everyone is happy.
